FAQ
There are plenty of common questions people ask while they’re considering a career as a Life Planner. Here, we’ve compiled the most common ones to dispel a few myths and quell your fears.
Question How can I deal with rejection?
Answer In any job, one has to deal with rejection time and again. As an insurance professional, the potential for rejection will be much reduced if you approach potential customers with a view to help them. Ask any family who has lost a loved one but was still able to maintain their lifestyle with adequate insurance protection.

Question Worried about income instability?
Answer A career in financial planning allows you to maximise your earning potential, and generate a stream of passive and perpetual income which will create income stability. As a Life Planner, your paycheck will be commensurate with your performance. The income you earn may vary month to month, but it is usually many times higher than a regular salaried job.

Question Isn't the industry very competitive and saturated with advisers?
Answer There is still plenty of untapped potential in the growing Singapore insurance market. Singapore has a low insurance penetration rate as compared to other developed markets, and increased affluence and awareness has given rise to the strong demand for financial planning.

Question How will my family and friends view me in this profession?
Answer Your perception of how others feel about you begins with yourself. Life Planners are not merely salespeople, but consummate professionals who are skilled in analysing their clientele's current situation before offering prudent solutions to meet their financial objectives.

Question I am afraid of approaching people, can I still be a Life Planner?
Answer At Great Eastern, we offer our Life Planners structured training programmes to address issues like prospecting, sales presentation and telephone etiquette. You will also receive guidance and coaching from our very experienced and successful leaders/mentors to help you overcome this fear.

Answer Some of our Life Planners may initially face parental or spousal objection. They are gradually able to overcome this when they achieve success and recognition in their work. Many objecting families of our Life Planners even become proud that they are able to make a difference in the lives of others.

Question What if I find that I do not like sales?
Answer A career as a Life Planner is not just a product sales job. Your role is to help others achieve their financial goals through proper planning. Moreover, our proven career advancement pathway allows you fast-track your career and move into a management position, where your primary role is to identify, nuture and develop future talent as a manager.
